Useful Tools for Professionals

In addition to the information on this website, Language Point can provide other useful tools for professionals.  These include:

Language Identification Cards: Language Point can provide you with wallet sized cards on which your clients can write their country of origin and language.  They can present these to whenever they make an appointment.  Language Point's details are on the reverse of the card for your convenience.

British Sign Language (BSL) Cards: Language Point can also provide wallet sized cards for BSL users who need an interpreter.  We are currently working on an improved version of these cards which will be ready for use in the near future.

NHS Help Cards: Language Point has worked in partnership with City Hospitals Sunderland to pilot the NHS Cards.  These cards combine the uses of both cards mentioned above.

Language Identification Poster: To identify a client's language this poster may be useful, please click here to download and print a copy ( pdf 236kb).  Laminated A3 copies of the poster are also available from the Language Point Office upon request.

Language Map: A map of the world showing the languages spoken in each country is available to help you identify the language your client speaks.

Guide to Languages by Country: An A to Z list of countries around the world and the languages commonly spoke there.  Available to download here ( pdf 112kb).

Telephone Interpreting Posters and Handheld Cards: When you sign up to use telephone interpreting Language Point will provide you with posters and handheld cards which explain the three easy steps to using the service.

Community Letters: To reduce the cost of translating standard appointment letters, Language Point can provide basic appointment letters in community languages.

Translated Paragraphs: Language Point holds a number of standard paragraphs which are already translated in to a number of languages and can be supplied for a nominal charge.
